HR Intern (Systems & Processes)

Hull University Students’ Union is looking for a motivated and detail-oriented HR Systems Intern to support the development and optimisation of a newly implemented HR system. This opportunity is ideal for recent graduates in Human Resources, Business, Information Systems, or related fields who are interested in gaining hands-on experience in a collaborative and supportive team.
As an intern, you will gain practical experience working with HR technologies and digital transformation, as well as having the opportunity to contribute to meaningful improvements in HR efficiency and employee experience.

Hull University Students’ Union is a Charity, with a large Commercial subsidiary; our primary purposes are:
- Advancement of education, promoting the interests and welfare of students during study and representing, supporting and advising students.
- Being the recognised representative channel between students and the University of Hull and other representative bodies.

Responsibilities
- Support the digitisation and streamlining of HR processes including onboarding, training, performance and payroll.
- Collaborate with staff to identify system improvements and provide recommendations for optimising technology.
- Assist with data entry, accuracy checks, and generating reports using internal systems.
- Maintain accurate employee records within HR systems.
- Help create user guides, process documentation, and training materials.
- Gather user feedback and support system testing and the rollout of changes.
- Assist with integration between HR systems and external platforms (e.g. payroll and training systems).
- Ensuring data protection compliance (e.g., GDPR) in all HR system activity.
About You
Essential
- Recognised Level 6 qualification in a related field.
- Strong interest in HR technology, systems, and data management.
- Confident in using Excel, including use of pivot tables and VLOOKUP.
- Good attention to detail.
- Excellent organisational skills.
- Ability to communicate clearly and collaborate in a team environment.
- Good understanding of data accuracy and confidentiality.
Desirable
- Previous experience working with HR systems.
- Knowledge of the StaffSavvy system.
- Basic understanding of system configuration or administration.
