Quiz & Social Media Host - Student Staff (Zero Hour Contract)
Asylums are on the lookout for student staff keen to engage and interact with both student and public facing social media presence as well as hosts for our weekly Pub Quiz.
Do you work well in front of a crowd both physically and virtually? We are looking for those to take their next step and become our new social media team, creating engaging content during events and being able to communicate verbally during our weekly quiz, alongside their academic studies, working for an established social media account and pub quiz helping to provide fist hand experience.
We are looking for key members to grow our team as well as offering an opportunity to help gain industry knowledge and create an engaging environment.
This role will start from September 2026, so if you will be a student at the University of Hull for the 2026-27 academic year then you are an ideal candidate for this role.

What You'll Be Doing
Your role will combine event hosting, audience engagement and content creation, with responsibilities including but not limited to:
- Creating engaging content for Asylum/ Tower Wednesday social media channels before, during and after events.
- Capturing photos, videos and behind-the-scenes content to promote upcoming events and showcase venue activity.
- Interacting with our online community by responding to comments, messages and encouraging audience engagement.
- Planning and producing creative social media ideas that reflect the Asylum brand and student culture.
- Setting up and preparing the venue for our weekly Pub Quiz.
- Hosting the weekly Pub Quiz, delivering questions confidently and creating an enjoyable, energetic atmosphere for participants.
- Engaging with quiz teams throughout the evening and encouraging repeat attendance.
- Promoting events through flyering and engaging with students across campus and the local community.
- Working alongside the venue and events team to support marketing campaigns and special events where required.
What We're Looking For
We're looking for people who are:
- Confident speaking in front of groups and engaging with a live audience.
- Comfortable appearing in front of a camera and creating social media content.
- Creative, enthusiastic and full of ideas for engaging digital content.
- Friendly, approachable and passionate about creating a welcoming atmosphere.
- Reliable, organised and able to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Interested in social media, marketing, events, entertainment or broadcasting.
- Available to work evenings, particularly for weekly quiz nights and live events.
Previous experience in hosting, presenting or content creation is welcome but not essential. Full training and support will be provided—we're looking for people with personality, confidence and a willingness to learn.
