We’re on the lookout for an energetic, hands‑on Kitchen Shift Leader to become a key part of our friendly, established team at HUSU. If you thrive in a lively environment, enjoy leading others, this role offers the perfect blend of pace and people.

With rota-based shifts including evenings and weekends, you’ll be right at the heart of our busy kitchen operation. In return, you’ll enjoy a healthier work-life balance than most hospitality roles, with quieter spring and summer periods and little to no trading between Christmas and New Year.

About the Role

The Kitchen Shift Leader role is essential to deliver friendly, efficient customer service, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere for all of our customers, and maintaining a focus on retaining and attracting new customers. 

Lead, inspire and support your team to deliver delicious, well-presented dishes at pace, ensuring our customers receive their food within 10 minutes, every time. 

To run shifts and, working unsupervised, to achieve the following on a day-to-day basis:

  • excellent customer service
  • preparing and serving food to the correct specification
  • maintaining a clean, safe and legal workplace
  • adhering to Wetherspoon’s standard operating procedures (SOPs) and company policies

General Duties and Responsibilities

  • Prepare, cook and present food to a high standard, quickly and efficiently
  • Lead shifts with confidence, delegating tasks and supporting your team
  • Maintain excellent hygiene, safety and cleanliness throughout the kitchen
  • Manage deliveries, minimise waste and follow all company procedures
  • Keep up to date with menus, promotions and in-house training
  • Contribute to team meetings and support continuous improvement

About You

We’re looking for a proactive, hardworking individual with a positive attitude to join our team. In return, we offer a supportive environment with training and development opportunities

Essential criteria

• 5 GCSE level/equivalent – grade C and above, including English and Maths.
• Experience working within a fast-paced kitchen environment
• Experience supervising and leading a small team

Desirable criteria

Food Hygiene Level 2
• Customer service/hospitality experience
• Food and drink service
